Throughout the past two months, you may have heard a lot from Manley Creative Team about U-Haul’s first commercial in 34 years and our pride in being chosen as their video production company and creative agency.
One thing I haven’t talked much about is something I’m especially proud of.
Every single piece of the puzzle that went into creating the national commercial with Arizona-based U-Haul comes from Arizona. Manley Creative is based in Arizona, our supporting crew was local, our cast was local, our voice over talent was local, the locations were local and we handled the media buying locally.
In fact, I’ve always made it a point to solely incorporate local talent into everything we do. There’s an endless supply of exceptionally spectacular folks in our great state.
When I see a company bring in a director or producer or actors from L.A. or New York, for example, I find myself wondering why. Now don’t get me wrong, there are many talented people from both of those cities. But, when you’re an Arizona company or government agency, wouldn’t you want to spend your very important dollars with the citizens of your state? Phoenix is the 5th largest city in America. Trust me, there are plenty of talented people to choose from.
I’ve even known production crew folks who put Los Angeles as their address on their business card, just because they feel that might make them sound like they’re better at what they do.
Hiring local talent might not be for everyone, but it’s the way I’ve chosen to run Manley Creative. It’s encouraging when an iconic company like U-Haul embraces and encourages it too. In fact, I’m proud to say, all of our clients are extremely supportive of our philosophy.
